Top Tourist Attraction and Top Things to do in Baden Switzerland: Stiftung Langmatt, Goldener Schlüssel, Restaurant Linde, Schweizer Kindermuseum, Stadtturm.
Stiftung Langmatt
This gorgeous little museum is an ensemble of art, architecture, and botany, housing a cornucopia of French impressionist art in a stately home surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. For your very own déjeuner sur l’herbe, pre-order one of the museum’s picnic baskets (Picknick-Korb) to enjoy out on the lawn (two-/four-person basket including museum admission Sfr110/200).
Goldener Schlüssel
Near the baths, this cozy eatery with beamed, painted ceilings invites diners to build their own dream menu from a dozen-plus Schneuggereien (small plates akin to Spanish tapas). Choices range from Swiss classics to Italian- and Japanese-influenced options. Local Goldwändler figures prominently on the excellent list of Swiss and international wines.
Restaurant Linde
Famed for its enormous pan-fried schnitzels (which many are surprised to find aren’t ubiquitous in Switzerland, even in the Germanic part), the dining room of this eponymous hotel doesn’t disappoint. That said, as you crawl away from your table to slip into a food coma, you might find der schnitzel, although among the best you’ve had, was also the most expensive.
Schweizer Kindermuseum
Occupying 20 rooms of a former mansion, this hands-on museum with a focus on educating kids about genealogy and generations past is a fun, free-for-all for inquisitive young minds. Although it’s better suited to preteens, anyone with an imagination and a sense of play (including mum and dad) can enjoy a visit here.
Stadtturm
This beautifully restored medieval tower is one of Switzerland’s most impressive. You can only get inside as part of a city tour, conducted by Info Baden. From 1846 to as recently as 1984, the tower was used as the district jail.
